Can Duolingo teach you to understand the Quran?
Not really — only a little. Duolingo teaches everyday Modern Standard Arabic, and it does that well, but that is a different job from understanding the Quran: the letters you learn to sound out do carry over, the words mostly do not. The Quran repeats its own small set of words, and those are the ones you meet on almost every line, so learning the Quran’s own words is the shorter route to understanding what you read and hear.
